Job Description

Fractals and multifractal analysis in holomorphic dynamics, finite-dimensional dynamics and IFS', hydrodynamics. (Tasks A3 D3 D6)

In low finite and infinite dimensional dynamics strange attractors appear which can be investigated with the use of thermodynamical formalism. Given an equilibrium measure one can study its dimension, entropy, and related spectra.We hope to achieve a progress in constructing a general theory, involving projection and intersection schemes in relation with geometric measure theory (in relation with A1,A2).

Many natural examples of such phenomena do appear also in studying random dynamical systems, in particular iterated function systems. While the theory of contracting self-similar IFS is well developed, systems with overlaps or nonconformal are far from being completely understood. Another interesting class we are going to study are nonuniformly contracting IFS. In higher dimension we plan to investigate baker maps, solenoidal attractors etc.

In holomorphic dynamics we want to determine conformal measures for various classes of Julia sets for rational, entire and meromorphic functions, discuss their support, study the conical limit set. Some other topics: Existence and stochastic properties of invariant measures. periodic orbits and the dynamical zeta-function, Hairy structure of Julia sets for entire/meromorphic functions. Parabolic explosion, continuity of Hausdorff dimension of Julia and Julia-Lavaurs sets. Rigidity -- non-existence of invariant line fields (in relation with D1).
